Dynamics of two-level ions in a laser beam

Abstract

We study the probability distribution of ions confined in a potential well. The ions can absorb photons from an incident laser beam and relax back to the ground state by either induced emissions or spontaneous emissions. The present calculations reproduce the quantum results in the limit of heavy particles. © 1993.
