Abstract

The origin of the linewidth of adsorbates on metal surfaces is currently a controversial subject as the vibrational mode may be broadened by either dissipative or dephasing processes. In addition, both surface and bulk phonon and electronic degrees of freedom are available as relaxation pathways. © 1986, All rights reserved.
