Abstract
The object Model of an Operating System is a structural model for an operating system as well as a design methodology. It is widely described in the literature and is represented by a number of commercial and university machines. This article discusses a conceptual framework for the Object that serves as a basis for extending the concept toward the support of knowledge-based systems, data-base integrity languages, etc. The ideas were first developed in connection with the development of electronic design systems appropriate for the description of the logical and physical relations of a computer processor under development.
