Experiences using generalized data translation techniques for database interchange

Abstract

There is an increasing need to interchange data among database systems which follow different data models. The development of a common interchange format will facilitate the interchange process, but there are other factors involved. This report draws on experiences with the Data Extraction, Processing and Restructuring System to suggest that database interchange involves many systems issues as well as data format issues. © 1982.
