Managing engineering for a sustainable future

Abstract

Education training and policy making process can be used to shape a sustainable environmental future. Engineering methods must be adopted keeping in view socio-political, cultural and behavioral implications. The technical education should be made available to all and the engineers need to be educated about the political, social, cultural and psychological influences that shape technology. Engineers should be included in the political process as technology is an offshoot of political debate. The real needs of the society must be addressed by the technology for the convergence of society, environment and technology.
