Abstract
A low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) intensity analysis of the Fe(211)2 x 1-0 surface has led to a missing-row model with oxygen atoms in the long-bridge sites at a height above the top iron layer of (0.26 ± 0.05) A. The first interlayer iron spacing, d12is (1.09 ± 0.04) A (increased from the value for clean Fe(211) of 1.05 A, bulk value 1.17), the first- to-second iron layer registry shift is (1.16 ±0.06) A (increased from the clean Fe(211) value 1.07 A, bulk value 0.827). © 1986 IOP Publishing Ltd.
