MITE: MORPHIC IMAGE TRANSFORM ENGINE - AN ARCHITECTURE FOR RECONFIGURABLE PIPELINES OF NEIGHBORHOOD PROCESSORS.
Abstract
A description is given of MITE, a parallel-pipelined, MIMD architecture and system for the efficient implementation of morphological binary image computations. It is a successor of and builds upon important architectural ideas incorporated in other systems designed with similar objectives. MITE has a number of features that, in part or in combination, distinguish it from other such systems; these include programmable configuration of operation flow graphs, programmable neighborhood transformations with programmable variable-length delay and a feedback bit, and programmable Boolean image combinations. A MITE-based system is a programmable, modular, and cost-effective approach for the efficient implementation of binary image analysis and a diverse selection of important industrial machine vision tasks.
