MODEL OF CONDUCTIVE MAGNETIC BRUSH DEVELOPMENT.
Abstract
We propose a microscopic model of conductive two-component magnetic brush development based on the assumption that toner movement along the brush chain due possibly to toner jumping between rotating carrier beads is the predominant mechanism responsible for the conductivity under normal operating conditions. This leads to a charge and voltage distribution along the chain unlike others have suggested. The development characteristics that follow from the present picture are naturally consistent with published experimental results. In addition, our model provides a reasonable explanation for our present data.
