PC-A/D: A LABORATORY AUTOMATION INTERFACE FOR THE IBM PC.

Abstract

The PC-A/D includes a 16-channel analog-to-digital (A/D) interface, a programmable multiplexer, four digital-to-analog channels, and two parallel ports. The PC-A/D is useful for getting analog signals flexibly into and out of the IBM-PC. Sampling rates of about 100 kHz directly into the IBM-PC's memory have been achieved. A neurophysiology software package sets up parameters, such as which channels to sample, how many sample points, sample intervals, and memory allocation. The software also displays the data on the color monitor, graphics printer, or analog X-Y plotter. The data can also be stored on hard disk, edited, or mathematically manipulated.
