Personal Information Everywhere (PIE)
Abstract
The issues in the design of a mobile hypermedia system with display on personal digital assistants (PDA) are presented. Personal information everywhere (PIE) builds upon the future pervasive availability of small simple PDAs that will be carried by everyone and used for a variety of purposes. The design criteria has led to the adaptation of an architecture which specifies a very thin software layer on the hand-held device, which is controlled directly by a server-side kiosk-proxy. The device layer handles all the graphic rendering and user event resolution based on a description of the screen layout and event model as sent by the proxy.
