Quantum-mechanical evolution of real-space transfer

View publication

Abstract

A rigorous quantum-mechanical treatment of the dynamical evolution of electronic real-space transfer from a quantum well is presented, based on the density-matrix theory. A continuous electron dynamical evolution (not an abrupt collision) corresponding to a phonon absorption is analyzed here. From the evaluation of the lowest-order correction to the unperturbed density matrix, the spatial and momentum distributions can be obtained. Results will also be shown for the Wigner and Husimi functions, and it will be discussed how the present results can be used for a semiclassical modeling of real-space transfer in a Monte Carlo simulation of this effect. © 1994 The American Physical Society.
