STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF CHEMISORBED LEAD ON SINGLE CRYSTAL COPPER SURFACES.
Abstract
Underpotential deposition (UPD) of monolayers or submonolayers of metals on noble metal substrates has been studied extensively. In this communication, data obtained for the UPD of lead on single crystal copper substrates is presented. The principal objective is to highlight the influence of anions such as acetate, oxalate, etc. which show marked affinity for the adsorbate as well as the substrate on the structural characteristics of the UPD layer. Electrochemical techniques favored by other investigators viz. cyclic voltammetry and potentiostatic step techniques, have been used.
