Understanding digital documents
Abstract
The explosion of digital documents on the Internet and in the workplace has led to an increasing need for computer systems that help manage the documents and help manage the understanding of these documents and their relationships. Researches on various fields on how organizations, groups and individual users seek to understand and navigate through document collections and individual documents are presented. Topics discussed include: temporal typography display; user interface for social navigation; text mining tools; linguini; lexical dispersion; and a visual interface combining summarization techniques with an active markup technology.
