Using MPEG-7 and MPEG-21 for Personalizing Video
Abstract
The use of MPEG-7 metadata descriptions, the MPEG-21 rights expressions and content adaptability declarations for personalizing video were discussed. The client communicates the MPEG-7 user preference, MPEG-21 usage environments, and user query to retrieve and display the personalized content. Semantic similarities across multiple simultaneous news media sources and abstracting summaries for different viewpoints were explored for video summarization. It was found that the middleware is powered by the personalization and adaptation engines, which select, adapt, and deliver the summarized rich media to the user.
