Visual languages: What, why, and what's the object?
Abstract
Visual languages are loosely defined as interactive graphical methods of specifying to a computer some set of actions to perform. They are not just visual presentations nor simply the interactions necessary to operate a visually oriented system, but combine both aspects with some additional flavor of programming. This panel will explore: • the need for visual languages, • their concepts, and • if and how they relate to object oriented programming.
