Hajime Shinohara is a research scientist at IBM Research Tokyo. After years of experiences as a research scientist for quantum physics and materials science at academic institutions, and as a cyber-security and Anti-Money Lanudering (AML) consultant for finantial institutions at Promontory Financial Group, an IBM company known as a world leading consulting firm for regulatory compliance and IBM consulting, he has joined IBM Research Tokyo. His Current research interest is Foundation Model and materials discovery especially in modality of spectrum in materials research.
Research Experience
As a research scientist, he has been mainly working on materials sciences including solid-state crystal synthesis using XRD, low-dimensional physics for magnetic materials using MPMS, Raman Spectroscopy, FT-IR and photoluminescence spectroscopy.
Consulting Experience
As a consultant, he has worked for audit and Anti Money Laundering mainly for financial institutions in various countries. Also he has worked as seurity consultant as Blue team for various institutions/sectors such as sports committee and automobile companies.
Education
He received his B.E and M.E in Applied Physics and Information Engineering from Keio University, Japan and Ph.D. in Physics from Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom as Winton Scholar, Funai Overseas Scholar and British Council Japan Association Scholar.
