Dr. Will Green is Program Director for IBM Corporate Technology, where he works with the IBM Technology Team, a forum of IBM’s technical executives reporting to the CEO, tasked with determining which core architectures and technologies are likely to have the largest impact on IBM’s development roadmaps and client deployment.
Prior to this role, Will was responsible for the Exploratory Science Councils, which manage a portfolio of the IBM Research division’s most forward-looking programs spanning the domains of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physical Science.
Will has also led a team of science and engineering professionals in the development, commercialization, and technology transfer of IBM’s CMOS Integrated Silicon Nanophotonics technology, building new offerings with foundry clients as well as short-reach optical interconnect suppliers. Will also advanced research applications enabled by the silicon nanophotonics platform, including near- and mid-infrared photonic trace gas sensors.
Will’s technical work has been acknowledged through honors including the 2012 IBM Corporate Award, several IBM Research Outstanding Technical Accomplishment Awards (2015, 2017), and the 2012 IEEE Photonics Society Young Investigator Award. He is a Senior Member of both the IEEE and Optica (formerly OSA). He joined IBM Research in 2005, after completing the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology.
